Well could be you strained your muscles around your upper rib cage from coughing during illness or you have developed what's known as fibrocystic breast- meaning you get small fluid filled or solid cysts in your breasts during your period. It would'nt hurt to see a doctor just to check and see what's going on.

i know that you don't want to go to the dr. but you should, go asap.

I it lasts more than a week go to the doctor.
It might only be a cracked rib from coughing quite painful.

Has it been ther long? are you sure its literally not trapped wind cause thats a shark stabbing pain thats stays there niggling away i used to get it all the time and thought i was cause i smoked but it was just wind.... but keep an eye on it and go to your doc if it gets too painful..

have you been sick lately, could be a upper respitory infection. i wouldnt wait to go to the doc, it could be more then just a infection, good luck

It's possible that it doesn't even have anything to do with your breasts. It could be your lungs. You can keep putting up with lots of pain, or go to your doctor and get relief. We can't really help you with this particular problem.
peace

my best guess would be that the pain is due to your period. my breasts hurt too when it's that time of the month. and it's not a tiny pain. it even hurts when i walk! so wait a few days even after your period subsides. might be due to water retention. if not, go to a doctor! good luck! cheers =D

Could one of your ribs be out of place?
Sometimes if I sleep wrong a wake up with a horrible pain that I can only assume is my ribs being sore. And if hurts really bad when I breathe in. I would wait a couple days and see if the pain goes away. If it doesn't then get a to a dr. I usually wait a week with symptoms befor I ever go to a doctor. (Bodies have a way of fixing themselves) Good Luck

could be a few things- coughing could have caused you to pull a muscle in your chest... you could have something wrong with the lung.. or something like bronchitis.. see your doc

See if you can come up with some results on here

hi concerned woman

I personally would not wait any longer, I would be running to the Dr. office and request asap a Mammogram.
Regardless if you can feel, see it does not matter. what matters is you have pain in /or around your breast. A Mammogram can see what you can't , and then i would go one step further and also request an MRI . If you live in the US the cost could be expensive. But, Please do not let this stop you, from finding out , between your partner and you , work together read anything and everything about the breast and hormone TX . Then if anything is similar, you can share that with your Dr. I hope this helps Take care of yourself

Since you've recently been sick and this has just come on, I think it could be a condition called Pleurisy, also known as pleuritis. It's an inflammation of the pleura, the lining of the pleural cavity surrounding the lungs, which can cause painful respiration (also called pleuritic chest pain) and other symptoms. Pleurisy can be generated by a variety of infectious and non-infectious causes. You may want to call your doc for an appointment. They will be able to listen to your lungs and tell you immediately if you have it. Good Luck!
