When your inserting a tampon do you have to take the plastic thing off? Any othe!

Question: I'm going to give this to you from a nursing standpoint.
Imagine that the plastic applicator is a syringe and the tampon inside the applicator is "medicine".
So you put in the tampon applicator, have 2 fingers holding it in the middle and a thumb at the end where the string is at. Push with your thumb as if you are injecting a shot. When your thumb meets your fingers that are at the middle section, you're done. Tampon or "medicine" has been "injected". Pull out the applicator and throw it away.
Sorry for the weird description. I give insulin shots to my 2 diabetic daughters every day, and so that seemed the easiest way to explain how a tampon works.
Also, look in your box. Every box comes with paper directions and says pretty much the same thing I just said.

You should have instructions inside the box with pictures on them, at least that's what Tampex Pearl has. I recommend those. Cardboard tampons are a bit uncomfortable I heard?

But yeah, you push with your fingers and leave the string hanging outside of you.

Um mm... Please do. There should be instructions in the package. The plastic part is needed for proper insertion, but not meant to be left inside your body. Another tip is don't aim upwards, aim sort of to the small of your back. RELAX!!! also it is sometimes helpful to stand up, and put one foot on the toilet. It will get easier.

I'm assuming the plastic thing is the applicator? Well you push the tampon/applicator half way up, or enough to push the applicator so the tampon goes through. YOu should still have the applicator in your hand to throw away. The applicator is to help you!

Also, keep in mind you push the tampon up toward your lower back rather than straight up into you.

Good luck
