Sorry for the gross question...but my tampon is leaking?!

Question: after about an hour the string is all bloody and i think its starting to leak but then i take it out and theres not alot on there, oh and i dont think it ever like opens up inside even on the rare occasion that it does get completley filled up. o and dont say try a smaller size/absorbancy because im already using the smallest, so why is it doing that and what should i do? and how do i know if it opened? thanks

Tampons that are supposed to open like umbrellas are bogus. The vaginal muscles are way too strong to allow the tampon to unfold. This allows blood to flow PAST the tampon to the string.

Instead, try Tampax tampons. They are available in various sizes to accommodate your flow. Just make sure you insert it high enough into your vagina because the blood flow starts at the cervix.

When your periods are heavy, it is always advisable to wear a panty liner because ANY tampon can allow some blood to escape.

Try a different brand of tampon it might help.

You should wear a pantyliner to catch any leakage or reassure you that it won't go through your trousers if you have a disaster. I would also wait 4 hours before changing tampons to give them a chance to 'fill up'

You need to be using a bigger size, not smaller if it's leaking and try changing the brand you use.

maybe you don't get it in right or try a bigger one

you need a bigger one and please make sure to change as much as possible. Tampons can be dangerous if left in too long. and I switch. I always sleep with a pad on.
