Experience with IUD for someone after pills OR w/ PCOS?!
Question: So my doc mentioned getting an IUD today. I have polycystic ovaries, and she my irregular period would come back. However, Metformin could help that. I'm already on 500mg of Metformin...but I don't know that it does anything. Any experience or changes w/ IUD for those w/ PCOS? Also, did anyone get an IUD after being on the pill?? Did you notice anything different w/ your body. Weight loss, perhaps ? :) Change in headaches? Sorry for the loaded question. Thanks!

I had an IUD for treatment of irregular periods and PCOS (after going to a doctor that said it was all because I am fat!) Anyways the insertion and everything went well, it stopped my period (it was pretty bad) and I thought life was great. About two weeks later things turned bad. I got a severe infection and ended up in the hospital and they had to take the IUD out and they found an enormous cyst on my ovary. Couple of years later I ended up getting an endometrial ablasion and I've never looked back! It was the best thing I ever did. It was the best solution for me because I'm done having children.
I have never used the IUD for the treatment of my PCOS. I do have the link to a site that may help you find more information and experiences. The link is at: http://www.pcosupport.org (they have a messageboard on the site too)
