Any one on the mirena....?!
Question: well i got the mirena about 8 months ago and i have gained alot of weight... has this happend to any one else..? my doctor said i can gain up to 30 lbs... i already have gained 15 lbs and it sucks and i can feel it in everything i do... :(

Weight gain is a possible side effect.
"Other adverse events reported by 5% or more subjects include: . . . weight increase."

If you decide you can't tolerate this, IUD removal is usually a simple process.
I just got mine last Friday, I read a lot of information that said you would not gain weight and my Dr. said that there is no evidence of weight gain.
That being said.. I have been eating everything in sight and I cannot get my eating under control.. Back to the Gym for me.
I am on Mirena, but actually the insert says weight gain is absolutely not a side effect. I've had it for a year (put in right after I had a baby), and still lost all my baby weight, which was about 35 lbs. I think maybe u should get a second opinion, or for that matter, just show the doc the insert where it says it and ask him/her what's up. But BTW, if you've never had a child you're not supposed to use an IUD b/c it doesn't always sit properly and can "malfunction", cause infections, etc.
