Stopping a fever?!

Question: So I know that when your body is trying to fight off infection, you'll run a fever. If you take tylenol/advil and the fever goes away, does that stop your body from fighting off the infection?

No antipyretic medications (medications that reduce fever) will not slow or stop the body from fighting infection.

A fever doesn't really need to be treated unless it is a high fever or you have associated symtoms eg: sweating, shivering etc...

i don't think so because you still have the white blood cells that help fight of infections.

Try tylenol or any other type of aspirin. You're also supposed to "sweat it out" by taking a cold bath.. i think.. maybe u shouldn't try that last one..

No. It's just a fever-reducer. Take a lot of vitamin C - also, Airborne tablets help a lot. This year I tried the Airborn, and I was able to stop a cold dead in its tracks. It was gone in about 2 days. Vanished completely!
Whenever I feel like I'm going to get sick, I just start eating all kinds of fruit, as much as possible, and drinking lots of juice. It seems to help a whole lot.

The body naturally fights off infections, via antibodies and help of prescribed antibiotics from MDs. Taking aspirin and tylenol only brings down the temperature temporarily! The heat generated from any body infection is a normal body defense mechanism. You can try ASA, Tylenol, cool showers, and drinking plenty of fluids to help the body fight off infection. Rest and sleep also help! You can take Aspirin every fours hours and alternate with Tylenol every four hours...that is assuming you are not allergic to either medication.
