I'm not sure why she would freak out - I'm sure she knows it's going to happen - she may think it already has.
But if you're concerned you don't have to tell her. Just buy some pads or tampons and look after it yourself. Maybe you could speak to a friend who has already got it and ask for advice or help that way. Your stepmum doesn't have to know if you don't want her to - it's your body!

talk to a friend's mom or another adult that you trust. go to a store and get some pads... i don't know why your stemom would freak out - she is a woman and gets her period too. it's a natural part of being female...

Freak out? about what? A period is a natural thing, it happens to all woman. No matter what. And if you do refuse to tell her. Tell another adult that you know.
