Planned Parenthood?!

Question: Do they give pelvic exams at Planned Parenthood??

Also, does any kind of treatment or test done at Planned Parenthood show up on insurance bill ?

Do they ask you for your name or is it completely anonymous?

thanks

I LOVE PLANNED PARENTHOOD! They got me through the teens and young adult stages when I didn't want my parents to find out and didn't know how to get birth control.

Check with your local planned parenthood and see if they have a program going right now. They used to have a program called "Take Charge" which offered free annual pap smears and birth control (STD/HIV checks were a small additional charge b/c the Take Charge program focused on preventing unplanned pregnancy.) They ask you your name and address but give you the option to keep it private and not call or send anything to your address.

They will also ask you if you have insurance but let them know that you don't want your parents to find out about your visit. (Unless you live in one of those funky states that have screwy laws.)

FYI-they are more expensive there for all things u want to get done, go to your state health department, cheap and no insurance required. Everything there was based off of how much money u make, told them I made 3000 a yr and then everything was done by donation, I paid 20bucks for a pap and 6months of birth control.

When I used them I had to fill out the forms like a normal dr visit. they used a sliding scale then and i didnt have to pay for the services. call them and ask before you go.

Depending on the location, you can get a pelvic exam, especially if it's for something abnormal or if you think you're pregnant. They do ask for your name, but they'll protect your information, as does any medical health provider. It depends on what you're trying to get done, but you can just pay in cash, instead of filing under insurance, because it's pretty hard to avoid having it show up.
Paying cash costs more, but you can avoid any record of it showing up anywhere besides at that Planned Parenthood location, where it's confidential anyways.

It's not completely annoyomous, but when they call to remind you of your appointment, you can request that if they have leave a message they can say it's a friend of yours calling or the dr's or whomever you would like.

It will show up on your insurance if you use your card, as it has to be processed, and if you are under the age of 18, your parents can call and ask about the claim and see what the test and procedure was for and from whom.
