Am i covered for mirena on Medicaid?!


Question: ok i'm on medicaid right now and i'm havin my first child in july, i was lookin at birth controls and found this one. i don't like the shot the pill or the patch, and condoms are not and opshion kuse of how many things make me brake out i dont want to take teh chance of it, and as a pagan spermicides are out of the running, the only thing is can i get mirena on medicaid, and if not how much is it?

Yes, Medicaid does cover the Mirena. We refer our Medicaid patient's from our women's health clinic to the hospital ob/gyn practice all the time to get fitted. The cost otherwise, can run anywhere from $300-$550 plus the visit fee.

even if you are not covered, you can ask the doctor to get it approved by the insurance. Thats what we have to do for my husbands BP meds. It usually only takes a few days to get the approval.

i currently have mirena it is a great choice. medicaid should cover it. and your doctor can tell you before you even get it. if your medicaid doesnt cover it, which most likely they will. your doctor will tell you before hand what the pay range is for that sort of thing.but like i said it should be covered mine was
