Sounds like your Mom is "perimenopausal".

Which is PRE menopause ~ when our systems go haywire in timing & things start going all messed up for no real reason at all. Google that one. There is far too much info for me to relate in regard to that subject here.

It's marks the beginnin g of the end of our menstrual cycles & the *joys* (tongue in cheek) of menopause. I feel for all women going thru it. You don't know some days whether your coming or going & the hot flashes are unreal. But that should be down the line a tad for your Mom at her age.

Support her, try to understand that she is suffering in a very different manner & will really need your love & support & understanding. Ignore her moodiness when it happens, love her more then, she will love & appreciate you for it ~ I guarantee that.

im sorry i dont know much but it could be an early menapause

its quite normal to get heavy, lengthy periods in your forties - it could happen every month for quite a while

Ask her ? If she is leaving her blood all around the house for you to see, then you are well within your rights to ask her what and why its there !

I think your mum is very lucky to have you. She will be OK
Good Luck

It could be the start of the menopause but she needs to go to the Gp if she is worried.

your mum should go and see her g.p. as it could be a number of conditions.

There are a list of possibilities all of which really require her to attend her GP for a check up!

Lots of changes occur to the menstrual cycle in the mid 40's.
Bleeding can vary a lot, unless your mum is in pain I would not worry. She may well be in the early stages of the menopause, when periods are all over the place.
