What did your mom do about your period?!

Question: (I am 14) I wasn't planning on telling my mom about my period since I had already had 4 before and then last night I had like one symptom of TSS and I freaked out so I told her and she asked why I didn't tell her and I mumbled and she hugged me and I went to bed and I cried of embarrassment . And today she's like are you feeling better? And I was like...yeah. lol its been awkward when will it not be awkward around her anymore, even watching tv is awkward with her now...

What is your story with your mom and your period?

What is your story with your mom and your period?

your mom sounds like a doll.

and you shouldn't be worried or embarressed about it.

every woman on the planet has had a period. just like all women have breast. don't be so embarressed.

your mom is there for you and wants to help you.

you should have told her when you got it, but your mom sounds very nice! :)

The first time I got my period, I freaked out and told my mom right away and she showed me how to use a pad! haha =]

I told my mom, she gave me pads, all done!

well I just told my mom right away and she was very casual about it. then she just told me what to expect and let me go. haha so i just kinda figured it all out. it becomes a lot less akward if you make it less akward though. like if you just casually bring it up when you two are alone then she will react like a normal person.

I had just turned twelve. Because I was an early developer in other ways I'd been preapred for about two years, so I just calmly put a pad on and went downstairs and said "Mum, I started my period". She just gave me a hug and said "I knew this was coming". It wasn't really a very exciting story.

I started at 11 or 12. I am 13 now. I told her right away. She got me pantiliners, then one night I said I need THICK pads so now thats what I wear. I always thought my mom was kinda open with the period stuff, untill I asked about tampons. We were at Wal-Mart, here's the story: Me: um mom well um can i um use tampons? mom: WHY DOES MEGAN USE THEM? me: She has tried them, but cant get it in. Mom: Oh, well I'll think about it!! (She said it RUDELY!)
I felt so stupid. So the next day I sent her an email, basically saying, I respect your choice but want to use tampons and I also sent her a free samples web link. I got no reply. She hasn't said another word about tampons, around 4 months later! This month I was going to ask her but I dont want her to blow me off. I just bought a couple of tampons from a machine and do it myself then go to the store with my grandma or someone else and buy them. :*(

My Mom thought it would be cool to have a coming of age party with just the two of us. Luckily I was so sick the first few times I had my period that she left me alone. We are very close and I can tell her anything, I was still embarrassed to tell her that I had started though. Don't worry, it will pass, she is just doing her job and wanting to Mother you. Just realize that she has been in the exact same place you are now. You can talk to her, just let her know how you are feeling. Good luck.

when i first got it, i was scared, and i didnt tell my mom for about a day (i had pads)
and whe i told her i expected her to be like... oh ok and be really like mean about it
but when i told her she actually congratulated me and gave me a hug... i was like... uh... what?!?!
and she asked if i had pads and made sure i knew what to do... and told me when to expect it next time

and thw hole tampon thing... we went shopping and i put a box in the trolley, she was totally down with that and when e got home she was like, oh! your using tampons now, thats so much more hygenic!

My mom was just like, "ok, you know where the stuff is right?" and I was like "yeah" and sometimes she would kind of hint about changing pad or something, but other than that, she didn't really do anything. I also hid it for a year before she found out because the toilet got clogged and it was kind of bloody, and I couldn't find a plunger. She still doesn't know I hid it from her. I don't think. If she does, she didn't say anything.
