Ladies-- Birth control ???!

Question: I want to try and start taking Yaz. Has anyone tried this particular BC pill?? Side effects? Good and bad ones please. JUST YAZ though. I'm not interested in others. I've tried others. I don't want to know about those.

Also, who do you normally ask for BC from??
Your Gyno or family doc???? I assume Gyno, but I don't want to make the appt with the wrong doc. In the past I used Planned Parenthood....
Thanks!

Don't do it.... DO NOT DO IT.. I have heard so many horror stories about YAZ it is scary. My gyno tried to give that to me a few months ago and I was going to try it but something told me to research it first and I can across a blog with like 2000 posts, most of them saying they had awful mood swings, anger, fatigue, no sex drive, they yelled at their boyfriends for no reason etc..... I would do my research first good luck.

I have never taken YAZ, so I can't answer that, but you would make an appointment with the gyno or you could go back to planned parenthood, but I'm not sure if they give you a choice of the brand you want.

i get mine from the family doc..

Either your gyno or a regular doctor can prescribe the pill for you, but I'd suggest a gynecologist since they might want to do an exam and make sure all is well first.

gyno. Yaz is great i've been on it for a while. i dont notice any side effects, which is great. Its like not taking anything at all, i just feel normal. no weight gain either!

Your regular doctor can prescribe any type of contraceptive. Your prescription usually comes from whomever performs your pre-contraceptive pelvic exam.

I took Yaz for 5 months and hated just about everything about it. The only benefit was that I stopped having periods (GREAT since I was having 10 day periods with my other pill!). I also lost about 10 lbs....but that could have been caused from the perpetual nausea.
The down-sides were:

- Nearly constant period-like cramps.
- I STILL had PMS symptoms...bummer since I was trying to take it for menopausal symptoms!
- I went from having a great sex drive to ZERO libido.
- It caused moderate kidney dysfunction; I had severe kidney pain, and my urine output and quality dropped dramatically.
It caused increased nausea and insomnia.

The doctor switched me off when he became concerned for my kidneys.

Based on my own and other peoples' reports of severe problems, I wouldn't recommend it...but to each their own.
