Ladies, please answer ... Menstrual cramps question??? Endometriosis related???!

Question: I have been told by two different doctors that I probably have endometriosis.
After all the research that I've been doing on the internet it made me realive that I dont really know what 'normal' menstrual cramps even are since I have never asked other women what their cramps are like?!
******************************
So my question is.......
When you have 'cramps' do they come and go?
How long do they last?
OR do you get a pain in your stomache that is endless, and doesnt go away until the end of your cycle?

I have been told that I most likely have endometriosis by 2 doctors also. My pains that I got when I wasn't on the pill (thus far after 3 different prescriptions, cramping overall has decreased but is still pretty painful...I have one more to try before possible surgery) were brutal!! At about the time of ovulation, I would get crampy and it would feel like I had my period. This would continue until I actually got my period in which it would stop for a few hours, but then come back worse than ever. They used to last only the first day, but by the end of this summer (after about 5 yrs of dealing with cramps) they started lasting until about halfway through my period. That's when I decided to go to my doctor, but I would feel:

-nauseas (but not throwing up),

-not wanting to move (even though they say exercise helps, it makes you temporarily forget until you get the next big pang),

-incredibly tired (but wasn't able to sleep because the pain would keep me up),

-get hot/cold spells (one minute I'd be burning up, the next I'd be ssoo cold and breaking out in a cold sweat)

-I'd take at least 4 ibprofen and feel no pain relief at all

Every once in awhile, I feel like someone is taking a knife and trying to cut out my cervix - there is just a sharp, shooting pain that goes all the way up and it can last anywhere from 10 mins to a couple of hours - but this can come and go at anytime for me.

Ohh yes, and whenever I have sex with my bf, when he first goes in, it hurts like hell....and if he goes deep I get such an intense pressure feeling it makes me curl up.

mine are low like one hands length away from my vaginal opening and are deep! it hurts for hours at a time or sometimes will be random last 2 mins and then leave! i have light ones that just feel like someone has pinched your lower abdomen and then i have some that hit soo hard they hit my lower back and my front! i get some soo bad i have to lie down before i faint! but then i get normal cramps that just make u have bad nausa and hurt like getting kicked in the pubic bone!!! so everybodies cramps are different and they all come and go differently!!! so it all depends on the woman.

They come and go for me at least. From what my friends say its the same for them. They can last for a while I never timed them. I have had the stomache pain thing you mentioned before but not everytime.

Endometroisis -
The pains during your cycle are very bad. Most of the time, I would be in bed all day long - especially on the first day.
There is also pain afterwords that never seems to go away including lower back, legs, pelvic region, etc. It all depends where the endometriosis is located.
I had an endoscopy so I found out that I also have fibroids. You might want to see a specialists who can help you out with this.

Mine are horrible too, but it has been suggested hat I ight have endometriosis as well, but I have not yet had a laporoscopy because as you know that is the only way to know for sure

I usually will start to get cramps the day before my cycle starts and they last through the first 1 or 2 days. They are an achy feeling in my lower abdomen and sometimes lower back. They can be pretty uncomfortable but nothing a few otc painkillers can't relieve. Hope this helps, I know everyone is different. Good Luck!

i am sorry but the doctors might be right. when get my period, it last 5 days and sometimes 6. i get back pains, headaches, stomach ache and my breasts are normally tender but this normally last for the first day of my period and it comes and goes. my back and my breast will start to pain a couple of days before my period. after day 2, i feel strong enough to run a marathon except for the grumpiness.
