Serious health issue, girls/women only...?!

Question: the last i got a period was 12/06, it is now 1/08, and still no period. i went to the doctor about this and she told me it was because of stress and weight loss. last year i had a 17 pound HEALTHY weight loss, but was under a lot of stress due to a major crisis. I am trying to work on my stress, and she told me I wasn't eating enough, and enough of the right foods". so, recently i've started to eat a balanced diet, with the right amount of dairy, fat, protein, starch/carbs, fruits, and veggies. how long should i give it to until i get my own period again? last month, she had given me a pill to give me a fake period, but it wasn't natural. i'm 16. and when i first got my period, i was never regular anyways.

Weight loss messes up your cycle. Keep on waiting and don't take another pill. Those are proven to cause even more mayhem in your ovaries.

Good luck. Your periods will be irregular for some time, you're still young.

Your body's still trying to adjust. It will be irregular for a few years and then it will come to a regualr cycle. Im 17 and same thing. Dont worry!

I don't know, but if it's irregular, then it should come somewhere between this month or February. But my aunt only has her period every 3 month, and I have mine every month or two weeks. So don't worry, just continue and see a doctor. [=

you're probably just irregular. i'm 15 and i've always been irregular and i've gone a few months without a period before.

I dont think it's serious. You have irregular periods. one of my friends takes the BC pill so she can be regular, nothing wrong w/ that :o) your ok! When I was 16 I had very irregular periods..

so this is normal for you...
next question??

I've never had a regular period either, and missed about three in a row a couple of years ago (too much exercise and STRESS). The pill the dr. gave you to induce a "period" does not actually induce a real period, as you suspected (its basically a mix of hormones not involved in actual periods--similiar to the period you get with "the pill").
I would suggest doing yoga or pilates to relax, cutting back on certain vegetables (okra can inhibit your period), and maybe allowing yourself a few treats (chocolate!). Things should return to normal in a month or two.

Good luck!

Well, first off, every girl is different when it comes to periods. What is considered "normal" is just an average. Also, since you said that you weren't regular even when you did have them, it could mean this is just an exceptionally long time in between, or that the stress delayed it even longer. Since you seem to be getting everything back to normal, i would wait like two more months and see what happens. If still no more periods, then go back to your doctor and maybe have her run some tests just to be safe and to make sure everything is OK gynocologically. or if you aren't satisfied with the answers your doctor is giving you, get a second opinion from another doctor.

You can have mine.

Your really are not that much past due. If there is no pregnancy fear, then wait a couple of weeks. If your doctor seems to have some concerns about weight loss, then there may be something there. Stress will definitely delay your period, but also, you are young and it may just not have set into a regular schedule yet. I'm not quite clear why you would you were given a pill to give you a "fake" period. If you are that concerned, maybe you should talk to your mother about changing doctors. Hopefully your doctor is a gynecologist.

I think your still growing and your body is adjusting to that. Stress is definately a big factor in upsetting your cycle but like I said, your still growing and changing. You seem to be doing all the right things so if I were you I would put it to the back of my mind and just carry on living your life.

Is it not GREAT not to have a period?? I would think it wasnt that bad. :)

I was the same way last year when i was 17 and i finally went and talked to my doctor and got on a low hormone level of birth control. It really helps and with all the options of birth control you could even have a 3 day period. It really is something u should think about.
