Heavy periods while on implanon?!

Question: I got my implanon inserted a little over two weeks ago and about one week ago my period started. This is after having my 2nd child. What I want to know is: Is it normal to have very heavy periods on implanon? My period never lasts more than one week, and if it does, it gets lighter by the end. Mine is still heavy! What's the point of being put on this birth control if you can't ever have sex?! How long should I expect this period to last?

I have had the implanon for nearly a year now. I did have very heavy periods for up to 3 weeks sometimes, so I know how annoying it is! Hopefully you will be lucky and it won't be like it for long, as your periods are meant to go back to normal (or stop if your lucky!) after a few months. In my case this didn't happen but my doctor gave me the Combined Pill and it has controlled them down to just a light period once a month. Basically, I think it depends between women but your doctor should know how to help.
