it's really nothing to worry about..the only reason why the doctors want to give you antibiotics in your IV for it is because when the baby comes they don't want to risk the baby health when his/her body comes into contact with the infection. Normally, type b strep goes away with proper care and antibiotics are taken. But during pregnancy, and depending on what kind of strep you get can cause serious complications for you or your baby. I wouldn't really worry about it. Just trust your doctor, and do what's right for you and your baby! Congratulations BTW and GL!

So it is a common bacteria, That is why they test for it. The baby can get very sick after delivery if you are not treated with antibiotics, Dont worry. this is a very common thing.

i had that dont stress 1 in 3 women have it i had iv meds while in labor n my daughter had iv meds after birth she never got it good luck its fine

I also had this when I was pregnant with my son, the way the Dr. explained it to me was that all women carry the bacteria, but ones that test positive for group b strep have a little more than others. They will put you on IV antibiotic when you go into labor and the baby will be fine. My son had no side effects or infection.

you need go to special doctor and ask for your healthy
you must do some test as prevent some diaseases have relative with pregnant as : tetanos , cytomegalo virus , toxoplasmose , or group B streptococus aureus , ...
don't worry , please go to doctor or hospital and you will get some advise from doctor
take care
good luck

It is a bacteria that you had no control of getting it. It just happened. Just make sure they give you the antibiotic when your labor starts. It will protect your baby.

You can look this up on line and verify what I said. Just look up group B strep.
