I skipped a period, what does that mean???!

Question: The month before last I missed my period. I usually get it around the 25th, but I didn't. The next month (last month) it came, but really early on the 15th. It's almost time for it to come again so I'll wait and see what happens, but I'm just wondering what this could mean? I know it's definately not from stress or any weight related problems which I read can cause a skipped period, so what else is there? And I really really doubt that it was just irregular because my period has come like clockwork on the 25th for years. Any ideas???

lots of things can cause a skipped period, pregnancy, gyno disorders, hormonal imbalances... the question you'd have to ask yourself is have you been experiencing any other signs and symptoms that would suggest these. spotting, discharge, pain, pain with sex or urinating...any frequent or night urination, what kind of pain or pressure sensations if any do you feel before or during your period. backaches? bearing down feeling, heavy, medium or light flow...it could be just your body shifting your hormones a little too or environmental changes. i read on web MD once that females and the endorphines/fermones they put off can influence each other's hormonal cycles, so if you've been palling around with a new chic frequently around that time or a little before that may explain it too...but having an idea of some of the possibilities may help you gather info in case it happens again, you start to experience some signs and symptoms, or if you end up mentioning it to your doc or gyno before then at least you'll have a heads up some of the stuff they'll probably ask

if you skipped a "period"....

don't look now, but there is always a "question mark"

sorry for the cheesy joke... but in all seriousness....

it could be that you over extended yourself physically or a side effect of a prescription drug... but the best way to deal with something like this is to GO SEE A DOCTOR....

sit at home in front of a laptop computer screen doctors (being the people that answers these questions) are not the way to get the best answer....

when it comes to your health, get the opinion of a "REAL" doctor....

baby on the way

You don't say how old you are. Is it possible you are entering the menopause?

your pregnant?
it is possible to get bleeding after you have conceived; its like a very light period which can misleading
and ive also know girls to have their period while they were months pregnant.
so i say go out and get a pregnancy test pronto

Please go see a doctor right away: it sounds as if you might be pregnant.

how old are you?
Late 30s?

Could be perimenopause, thyroid problems or polycysitic ovarian syndrome. All of these possiblities increase with age.

This happened to me in Sept. ( I was 39 then - now 40 )
I skipped and freaked out. Took 5 pg tests een though husband has had vasectomy.
Next month - early, but normal.
Month after that? I had my period for 19 days. OMG!
Talk about freaking out.

Went to doc. who thinks it is hormonal, due to age, but did tests anyway. ( blood, sono) Sono showed a 2 cm cyst on ovary. Blood showed a slight elevation on insulin.
Doc thinks it could be PCOS ( polycystic,...) and we are awaiting more blood tests to be sure.

So - go to the doc and see.

Hope this helped.

You didn't say how old you are. Depending on that, you could possibly be pre-menopausal. You may have developed some problems that are not nec. serious, but you wouldn't know unless you were seen by a doctor. Sometimes it can be a fluke thing. Make sure you keep track of dates etc. If it happens again, see your gyn. dr.

you might be pregent
