Was this right not to tell my former female karate instructor this?!

Question: While I was in Arizona I started my period. I was scared to tell her. And be embarrassed ashamed about it. I never had a adult female around. She said that I could have gone to her. But I was scared to tell her. She would have freaked out. But I know that she would have gotten me away from the others and sat down with me to see if i had any questions. She was more like a mother to me back than. And I do look up to her. But with my 1st period i didn't want anyone to know. I was in alot of pain. I had cramps and my back hurt. What would you think she would have done to help me?

in the first place there is nothing about starting your period that you should be ashamed of, it is about growing up and your body is getting you ready for children. you should be happy it did start. without you having to go to the doctor to find out why it hasn't started. The karate instructor would have probably done exactly what you said just told you about your body and what to expect , and napkins or tampons or what you could use for cramps She probably would have gave you and big hug and said don't worry, everything will be ok.

i think she mite have given u advice...or she would have given u midol or tylenol for ur pain...but im not her so idk...

why are u even asking this question?

ummm....why does it matter? it's over, in the past now. I mean, she prolly woulda answered any questions or gotten u a pad. but u didnt tell her and she didn't help u

She would have given u a tampon. Really us older women really dont care about periods anymore. Its nothing big or embarassing to us.
