Abortion...?!

Question: anyone had an abortion? Can you give me a play by play?

There are different kinds of abortion. If you're still early on and not past 12 weeks, then you can get a medical abortion, where you simply take a few pills and it stops the pregnancy and you get your period. You go into the clinic, they get all your information, then they let you sit in a nice quiet room while you watch a video with people talking about how abortion affected them personally and such. After that you get an ultrasound done as well as a blood test to make sure you're 100% pregnant without a doubt. They also take your blood pressure and talk to you about your decision. After that I went to the main office and paid for the service, (in cash, and it included a followup visit for 1 week later), and then I got a pill. There were 3 other girls with me, and we all took the pill, and then we were given 2 or 3 other pills that you had to take about 8 hours later or less, and those you let dissolve in your mouth (those pills start your period. The first pill stops your pregnancy). I got really bad chills and a fever, and it was kind of scary, but after that I felt a lot better and I'm glad I made the decision I did. I'm glad they really talked with you about it and made sure you were making a decision you wanted to make.

If you have to get the other type of abortion where you are put to sleep and have to stay in the hospital, I'm not sure how that precedure goes.

Edit: I forgot to mention that with the pills, they also give you pain killers to take after, in case your cramps are way too bad. But I didn't use them at all. I just went to bed with a heating pad under my tummy and I was fine to go to college the next day.

My aunt had an abortion and she kept it a big secret. Her daughters (my cousins) had no idea that she had an abortion and when they found out they were really hurt.
It was a baby boy and she aborted him =(
I would have had a boy cousin right now. In my family its all GIRLS and two boys. My 15 yr old boy cousin would have had a boy cousin his age, someone that he could relate to you know? The other boy cousin that we have is only about 8months old so he can't rally relate to him.
But my point is that abortions cause many problems in the future....
I mean where would WE be if our moms aborted US?
But every woman has there RIGHT and they coose whatever THEY think is the best for her and the baby.

I don't like abortion but at the same time sometimes its better to abort the baby.......which is sad.....*

well you would go in to a clinic. kill a baby. and then probably go out and have unprotected sex again.

if you are not ready for a baby then you should be having sex. a child should not have to pay for your dumbass decision to have unprotected sex.

There are nine different types of abortion. It depends on several things including how far along you are. Experiences are going to be very different from state to state and even clinic to clinic.
The most common type of first trimester abortion is Suction aspiration, or "vacuum curettage," is the abortion technique used in most first trimester abortions. A powerful suction tube with a sharp cutting edge is inserted into the uterus through the dilated cervix. The suction dismembers the body of the developing baby and tears the placenta from the wall of the uterus, sucking blood, amniotic fluid, placental tissue, and fetal parts into a collection bottle. The machine is usually covered so that you cannot see it. The type of anesthesia would depend on that clinic- you are often given pain killers are drugs that put you in a "twilight sleep".

The pills described above are usually not used later in the first trimester due to the risk to the mother.

If you are further along the procedure is more difficult and risky- because your cervix has to be dilated and labor induced.

I would suggest you do some real research about the different types of procedures. See is there is a pregnancy resource center in your area where you can get a free pregnancy test and an ultrasound to date exactly how far along you are. You also want to make sure it is even a viable pregnancy before you go through an abortion. Abortion clinics charge for the pregnancy test and ultrasound (around here $15 for test and $100 for U/S) PRC or CPCs will do it for free if there is one in your area. Make sure you research the physical and emotional side effects before you make a decision. Don't try and do this on your own. Help is out there.
