If ovulation happens about 12-14 days after the first day of period!

Question: Does this include long cycles? Like 40 day cycles?

Answers: Does this include long cycles? Like 40 day cycles?

Ovulation occurs on about Day 14 only in women who have 28 day cycles. (Day 1 is the first day of bleeding.) 28 days is the average cycle length for women. If your cycles are 40 days, you will not ovulate on day 14. What is always constant is that (asuming you ovulate) your period will come 14 days AFTER you ovulate. So, if you have 40 day cycles, you are probably ovulating on about day 26. The time from onset of menses (day 1) until ovulation can differ. But ovulation day until period day 1 is always the same.

There are many web sites that can help you determine your ovulation day based on the length of your cycle. From what I can tell, ovulation occurs about 14 days before your next period. So you'd take 40 days from the start of your period and then count back 14 days.
