What good can possibly come of abstinence only education?!
Question: Are people really so terrified of discussing sex w/ their children that they are just going to avoid it all together and wait for something, that wouldve been avoidable, to happen?
What happened to family life? In the 7th grade they would split us up by gender and put us in a class room and show us videos on childbirth, STDs, and contraceptives (i would assume the guy's videos were similar).
The gov. is offering millions in funding to bribe states to do this! Since the dawn of time, teenagers, which is when nature sets the hormonses loose, have been experimenting. A class telling them not to isnt going to stop it. But avoiding telling them their options and long and short term effects is going to make the outcomes much much worse.

The ultra right wing conservative approve of it. I am liberal so what ever they say I generally disagree with. Its wrong not to teach other forms of contraception and stress using a condom to prevent STDs as well as pregnancy. Teenagers are going to experiment if they have the least bit chance to. Show tell them how to use condoms and other forms of birth control Teaching abstinence only will only cause teen pregnancies to go up. The best way to get someone to do something is tell them not to do it. I started rambling here. I hope I made sense with what I said.
Nothing good comes of abstinence education, the government should sop funding it. The government funds abstinence but not comprehesive. I am a teen and I think it sucks.
Teaching abstinance will not stop teens from having sex, how well I know. But it does help to let teens know about the out come of unprotected sex, and about child birth, and about STD's. in the long run it helps teens to be more informed.
my personal opinion is you start at home. We as parent's don't need to give kids the freedoms we do today.. We need to know where they are and who they are with, so what if the kids don't like it?.

then the decisions. theirs, But we should start at an early age instilling the side effects that come from sex.period. Teach them sex is for married people only. tell them until they believe it.Then, when they get sex education at school discuss with them what they got out of it. It helped me get my children grown safe.
Education is the key! Not abstinance only, but education of the whole spectrum. If U tell a child/youth not 2 do something, chances are as soon as they are able, they will do precisely what they were told not 2 do. Human nature, 2 my belief~
Same reason the war on drugs will never be won!!
