Are smear tests painful?!
Question: I'm going to be honest with you about my last experience!! I went once about 2 years ago and it was just a little uncomfortable but when I went 2 weeks ago god did it hurt!!
Anyway pain or not its really important!! It took years to get me to go to the first one, then they said they didnt have enough cells and wanted me back- I was too embarrased to go back and its taken 2 years to get me back!! I just hope this time they got all the cells I needed!!

Not painful just uncomfortable and slightly embarrassing - wear a skirt.

If you mean a pap smear, then no, they're not. You might get a bit of a twinge for a second or two, but that's it. It's more like a pinch, and just not a big deal in my opinion, especially given the benefits.
No they are not painful. Just relax and and let the medic do what he/she has to do, so don't worry about it. Its one of the examinations that are essential to ensure continued good health.
If you relax while the test is being done, no, they are not painful. I've had a few done now, by male and female doctors and nurses, and i've been fine. It can be weird though.
Remember the person who does the test is (or should be) a professional, they will make sure you are comfortable.

in my opinion yes but i have things wrong with me down there so it was very uncomfortable from the pain i was already in beforehand, as long as you are comfortable then it will be ok. the horrible bit is where they stretch you open with that metal instrument thing, but once thats done its fine and only lasts a couple of short minutes. not trying to scare you or anything but better to be prepared just incase. good luck.
They are only uncomfortable if you are tense. I know it's easier said than done but try your hardest to relax and it will all be over in a few minutes. You could try taking Paracetamol or Aspirin about half an hour before the test, some people say this helps. You will be fine.
ahh well i would'nt say they are painful just uncomfortable but if you relax it will make it easier and close your eyes so you dont see what the nurse or doctor is doing this will only make you tense if you look
