Please don't judge......I just need alittle help.....?!


Question: So latly I have been feel lite headed, dizzy, seeing things, seeing things move that are not moving. I know it is from not eatting anything. I just found a new therapist today, so we have not touched about it yet. It's really hard for me to eat, when I do eat I just take laxtives. I just want to cry when I eat. I don't think I'm fat or anything, it is mostly a control thing. I know they more I do this, the worst it is going to get. but how worst? I try to look things up but I just confused and I get alittle scared. Please help me if you can, i'm really scared, I don't want to be like this. Please be nice with your answers please. Electrolyte imbalances can do that (dizzy, seeing non-moving things move, etc.) as can stress. (I guess you already know that laxatives can cause electrolyte imbalances.) It's really amazing what stress can physically do to you. I remember after my first husband died - and we were already long divorced - so I felt sad but not really stressed out. Well, I was convinced I had a brain tumor because when I was walking and I looked down at my feet, they seemed about a half mile away. It went away in about a week or ten days. Just stress. Food is something that is pretty easy to control - no one can force you unless they tube feed you - but there are other things in life that you can control and truly give you more power. Your therapist will probably want you to take meds. I can't say if that's the best thing or not. Personally, I wouldn't but that's a decision you need to make. Cognitive behavior therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Short term Dynamic Psychotherapy...any of them should work well.
In yoga therapy, we work at having people feel comfortable in their own bodies, really experiencing their body, what do you feel in different areas, where is tension, etc. It does work very well for a lot of people with anxiety, depression, eisordered eating. You totally DO have the power to turn it around. I was a supposedly "hopeless" anorexic from ages 18 - 31 but I am totally fine now. I'm still very thin but it's at the low end of normal, I feel great, I had 4 kids after doctors told me it would be impossible, and I never give any particular thought to food. (That last part is the most amazing to me. I thought I would be obsessed forever...)

I think you need to eat. The laxitives are what is probably doing this to you along with not eating. You can even die from this. Maybe you should think about going in to some kind of in care therapy.....not trying to be mean but you say you have a control thing and maybe they can work on it better with you there and you can start eating and getting better. How long have you been doing this and how frequently do you take the laxatives?

Not eating doesn't help, it may help that day but in the long run it only makes things worse. Maybe you could try snacking on nuts or something similar, that way you are not eating much at all, but you are eating something. Could you write a letter to your doctor and therapist to explain your situation at all.
