Something is wrong with my bladder!?!

Question: I always feel like I have to go the bathroom but nothing comes out. If I hold it in for a long time when I go it hurts like in my stomach but it's not a burning feeling. I went to a urologist and the urine culture came up negative. So I don't have an infection but I am miserable. This all started when I took miconazole because I thought I had a yeast infection and ever since then my bladder has been inflamed. What was weird was that there wasn't terrible itching, just kind of irritated. Maybe it wasn't a yeast infection but something else? I've been dealing with this for over a month. Don't tell me I have insterstitial cystitis because I don't have any pain in my bladder. I also have oral thrush now and it won't respond to the nystatin I've been taking. What bugs me more is my bladder. I'm not sexually active and I haven't been taking any antibiotics. :(

I'd never heard of a yeast infection that didn't involve itching and/or pain. So maybe you didn't have a yeast infection. Irritation can be caused by lack of lubrication, so if you get those symptoms again try using a personal lubricant to relieve the irritation. Apply the lube to your whole vulva (labia, clitoris etc), as well as your vagina.

It's possible that taking an antibiotic could have contributed to your oral thrush. Try to eat a diet low in carbs for a week or so (I know that's hard to do). Avoid sugary food and drink for a week - yeasts love sugar and thrive on it.

But the biggest problem seems to be your bladder. It sounds a bit like a muscle tone problem. I think you really need to see a doctor about it because if there is a problem with muscle tone you will need prescription medication. And in any case that kind of problem is rather difficult to diagnose on the internet...

Good luck!

Have you tried drinking cranberry juice? That might help, maybe. Get a couple of big bottles and drink that for a few days and see what happens.

Sounds like a bladder infection, but go to the doctor :)

Well I believe that thrush is yeast so anitbiotics would not work for that, it would make the problem worse. Could you have a kidney infection?
