Just relax and take good care of yourself this week. It is an emotional thing to go through - even if you are sure you want to have your tubes ligated. Take some time to yourself and take a calming bath, watch a movie...

It is a surgical procedure (albeit a simple one), so you you will be under anesthetic. To make things go smoothly, be sure to follow your doctor's instructions on eating and drinking before the surgery.

After the surgery, limit your activity. Have pain medication on hand so you are not completely out of commission. You should be back on your feet within just a couple of days!

Remember, there are hundreds of these procedures performed every day. My bet is your doctor has done dozens his/herself. You have nothing to be worried about if you are truely ready to have a tubal ligation.

Best wishes!

I assume you are having it done by a laparscope. Those procedures are a piece of cake. Just take it easy for a day or two. Let hubby pamper you a bit...I'm sure you deserve it.

But seriously, it's no big deal.

I was kind of nervous, too. I had my gallbladder out and tubes done at the same time. My doc and I decided on a Twofer-Tuesday! My GB was in chronic pain all during my pregnancy and he said he could do both.

I was 36 at the time. I have 3 tiny scars - they went in through my belly button. It is nice having the peace of mind of not getting pregnant. (The doc did make me sign a waiver that I understood that getting pregnant was a possibility - if the tubes didn't heal properly, etc. I told him if I did get preggers I was naming him as the father and suing for child support!)

5 years later and no problems. Glad I did it. Took about 3 days to be fully functioning again.

If you have it done laproscopicly you will have 3 or 4 incisions, all under the size of a dime. The only pain full sight after the operation will be your belly button. If you change your mind years from now, the operation can be reversed.

hi this is blue, try not to worry, my friend had it done, its not that bad, best of luck blue
