The government allows cigarettes to be on the market and the last I knew they caused servere health issues--I think what young lady is saying is that now that we know what we now, take time out to explore and learn about the different contraception options.
The government would not allow them to be on the market if they were unsafe. There are always exceptions to the rule, and there are situations that occur where people react badly to something. Unfortunately, this happens and will continue to happen because everyone is made differently. Don't be paranoid and make everyone else paranoid. If IUD fits with your lifestyle, it is completely safe.
