How do I delay my period?!

Question: I have them at the moment. They are due again exactly the day before my wedding day 9th february. Yesterday I began to take levlen ED, a birth control pill. How long until its effective and how can I delay them? Does delaying them work? How long can you delay them for? Do you still get PMT if you delay them? Thanks guys!

birth controll pills do not make your period stop unless you take the specific kind that are meant to do so. krissy you are incorrect on that and must be abusing your pills if your not getting a cycle. i know that if i forget a pill one day and double up the next day like your suppose to it will often change when you will get your cycle almost every time ive ever done it i have either got a late cycle or none at all. i also have a hypothyroid that takes part in making my cycle out of whack. and it is only a 5% chance of getting pregnant if you completely forget a pill one day and dont double up the next. : ) hope this helped. one more thing it really isnt healthy to delay you cycle ...i would atleast consult your doctor.

I don't think it's possible to delay your period, but if you're on a birth control pill, it may change when you get it, but it will still come every month. I'm on birth control and I still get some PMS but it's not as serious.

while you are on the birth control pills, the active pills will keep you from having your period. but you need to take them RELIGIOUSLY! most pills will make you start your period if you forget or are late merely a few hours. you can delay it as long as you like but it's not healthy. at most you should delay it by taking the next week of your active pills from your next month supply and not taking the reminder pills(the ones that start your period)

You just skip over the inert pills. So if you take the 28 pill pack, you skip the final 7 days and start your new pack instead. I used to do it all the time when I was on BC and never had a bleed through. But be warned, you will get massive PMS and cramps the following month!

P.S. I think Levlen is a 21 day pack in that case, you just start taking your new pack as soon as you're done with the first pack.

I dont know about your birth control but I started taking seasonal and it started working immediately for me. That next month I didn't get my period. I do know though most other birth control will actually make you have lighter, shorter periods but I don't think they delay it. If you take your pill regularly it should become effective immediately. I dont get PMS anymore either so....

You should talk with your doctor about this. My doctor recommended that if I wanted to not have a period that I could skip the last week of the pills (the ones you take when you are on your period) and just continue with the next pack of pills. If you keep taking the pills without taking the last week you will most likely not have a period. My doc said I could go 3 months without having a period if I wanted. If you read the material that came with your pills it will tell you how long before they are effective. Usually one full month. I don't know what you mean by PMT in your question. If you don't want to get pregnant on your honeymoon I would recommend that you use additional birth control methods. Just give your doc a call and that should correctly answer all your questions best? Congratulations and have a great time!
