Do doctors take a look at your ovaries during a c-section?!

Question: One of my doctors said they do, one said they don't.

Any help?

The first doctor is a good doctor and the second one is not.

We should always do a general inspection of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries after we had taken the baby out, so we can report to the mother if there are some problems she should take care later on.

They did my sister...and she had a benign tumor on her ovary.

they probably take a look at all of your reproductive parts just to make sure everything is ok.

it depends on the doc.

some like to explore the organs and vessels while the door is open...its ok....another way to make sure everything is tip top

Not that i've ever heard of, unless they have a need for concern.

My OBGYN Looked at mine when I had a c-section too. I didn't think it was out of the ordinary. I say why not might as well see if everything is OK

they do but they are more focused about the heathy child being born.

I just had a c section about 8 weeks ago and they do not. They are just going in there to get the baby and they immediatly close you back up. It takes about 30 min.

I would imagine that if it's safe for baby and mother for the doctor to take time to examine them, he will. There's nothing like a hands on exam.

That's because some doctors do and some don't. If you want them to, just ask! Say, "Hey, can you take a peep at all my internal girl parts while you're digging around in there anyways?"

It's very dependent on the physician doing the c-section. Most will likely have a quick feel to make sure there is nothing glaringly obvious while they already have access to your pelvis. If there is some underlying clinical suspicion of ovary problems, that may warrant a closer look.

they do. simple as that.
