Depo provera/ pregnancy question?!

Question: this is going to sound stupid but im just curious. whenever your late for an appointment. your suppose to get a shot every 11-13 weeks. whenever im late the doctor gives me a pregnancy test before i get another dose. i have been on this shot for 8 years now. if everyone is telling me that it takes a long time to get pregnant coming off of the shot and all the horror stories.. what are the chances of being pregnant right away after stopping? why would the doctor pregnancy test me if it takes so long to come off it?? the doctor tells me that it could be anywhere from 3 months up to a 1 1/2 to get pregnant coming off the shot. are there any stories out there of women who have gotten pregnant right away?

are there any women out there who have lost weight coming off the shot?

im not going back to any more doctors appointments and as of feb my 13 weeks is up and im looking forward to getting pregnant if possible. i have been on this for 8 years like i said and dont know what to expect.

While *most* women take a few months to get pregnant after stopping hormone contraceptives, like depo or the pill, some don't. In fact, some get pregnant even while taking them - they are not 100% effective. For the pill, for example, if 1000 women take the pill for a year, 5 will get pregnant. That's why he gave you a pregnancy test.
