Shooting abdominal pain when urinating after recent intercourse?!

Question: Here's more than you ever wanted to know about my personal life....
Sunday night (er, Monday morning technically), I had intercourse with a new man. Tuesday evening I noticed some shooting pain when urinating, but it was not too intense, and I am right smack in the middle of two cycles, so I thought I might be ovulating and thought nothing more of it.
This morning when I got up (Wednesday), the pain had grow significantly worse, and the urine this morning looked VERY SLIGHTLY pink (almost not noticeable.
I've never had much pain or discomfort surrounding my menses or ovulation, and I've only had one other partner (and only one time), so I guess my question is.... is this normal? Or could it have something to do with my partner and/or chosen recreational activities?

It sounds like a urinary tract infection. They often occur after intercourse, not because you got it from your partner but because the action of sex can push bacteria up into your bladder. If you are experiencing frequent need to urinate, urgency, pain, and blood in your urine, a UTI is a good guess. See your doctor NOW, these can get worse quickly, and you want to be sure that it is a UTI and not an STD. The doctor will take a urine sample and test it for bacteria.

There is also some relief available - over the counter medications like AZO and Uristat can help with the symptoms of a UTI, but they will not cure it. If possible, wait to take these until after you give a urine sample because they can affect the results.

Good luck, and drink plenty of water. It actually does help. And hang in there - I know it's miserable.

it sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection, go and see your doctor, he will be able to rule one out and/or indicate the correct treatment.

You most likely have a urinary tract infection (UTI). It's common to get a UTI when you become sexually active again. There's actually a term for it--honeymoon UTI. With a UTI you need to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic. Leaving it untreated can result in more serious problems.
