What do you think will happen?!

Question: ok so suffered from depression for a few years now but never did anything about it. after giving birth to my 2nd i got diagnosed with slight post natal depression and got told if it get worse go docs. didnt get worse but not better so went docs today (5months after being diagnosed) and he gave me a form to fill in about how i feel and how often (neg-feel low - never, several days, all time etc.) So I go back to see doctor next week and give him my form.
I get very bad mood swings because of this and feel low all the time.
Was wondering if anyone else has felt like this and what treatment was given and did it help? What do you think is wrong with me and what do you think doctor will do next??

All help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can only answer from a depression viewpoint as opposed to a post-natal depression point but am guessing that the route would be similar. There are probably a couple of options open to you/your Dr. Anti-depressants is the more obvious one though not necessary the one he/she will take- they are very effective and if you are feeling low and offered them they are definitely worth a try. The other option that occurs to me is you may be offered counselling or an appointment with the local community mental health team - they often have a specialist nurse for women who have depression after having babies. Whatever way all the best.

i am not from the UK but generally the dr will give you meds

Go to Holland and Barrett health shop as they sell products that will help keep you calm and help your mood swings. Better to avoid antidepressents if you can because of the side effects.

My wife suffered terribly with depression after our two children were born and the death of her mother.Seek medical help.Do not think it will all go away on its own.It is misery for you and your partner.Get help. For your childrens sake as they will see you as a unstable uncaring mother. They do not understand what the trouble is all about.
