Womens Health?!

Question: i am 14 years old and I am not sexually active in any way nor have I ever been to a gynecologist. I recently have gotton my first period and there is something else I have been experiencing. Lately , I have been seeing this yellowish/brownish discharge in my underpants and it has a really weird, gross smell to it. I don't experience anything else like pain during urination and I only rarely have stomach pains and thats basically whrn I have my period and its usually limited to cramps. Do you think something is wrong? I am really embarrased to tell my mom about it because it is an embarassing topic. Do you think something is wrong? If so, what do you think is wrong and what should I do and how should I go about doing it?

Thanks is advance!, and please only reasonable answers.

how long ago was your first period?
And have you had this brownish/yellowish discharge since your first period or before it already?

If you have it since your period, it sounds to me that this is just vaginal discharge mixed with some blood from your period. After the first days of your period when you bleed more heavily, the flow diminishes with every day and now you may still have some blood coming together with regular vaginal discharge which would explain the yellowish/brownish colour.

As for the smell, I don't know if you have smelled your discharge before (from closeby), but it shouldn't really smell bad if you wash daily down there, though it may be quite a prominent smell, a bit musky. But it's difficult to explain a smell with words of course.

If you are already embarrassed to speak to your mum about it, then I would wait it out and see what happens and what not (It wouldn't surprise me if this is just because of your first period anyway) otherwise if you tell your mum being embarrased to even talk about it to her, what is she going to do? Send you to her gynecologist? Now that would be real embarrassing, since he or she may very well get between your spreaded legs where no stranger isn't supposed to be (doesn't matter if they wear a white coat). Since I don't know what your mother's reaction would really be, I wouldn't alarm her unnecessarily just to protect myself in case she'd be fleeing to the doctor out of overreaction. But if that would be the case than a description of yoru symptoms will do, no need to spread the legs here.

But from what I read, I really doubt something is wrong with you.

Hmm.. well the thing that is making me think it's not right is the color and the smell. The generally signifies there's something not right down there. Umm.. is it all the time or just during your period? It's probably best to tell your mom just in case to get things checked out and all. Better safe than sorry. It's awkward, yeah... but maybe write it down and leave the note somewhere she'll see it?
