It's when you turn into a raging b**ch before your period and you want to kill anyone who gets within a two mile radius. You also cry a lot and your husband/boyfriend looks at you like you have three heads because they're a guy and they can't understand why you've gone completely mental. As soon as you start your period you feel normal again and you have to apologize to everyone who's head you chewed off.

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD is a condition associated with severe emotional and physical problems that are linked closely to the menstrual cycle. Symptoms occur regularly in the second half of the cycle and end when menstruation begins or shortly thereafter. PMDD is not just a new name for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), a condition that affects as many as 75% of menstruating women. It is, however, considered to be a very severe form of PMS that affects about 5% of menstruating women. Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include depression, anxiety, tension, irritability and moodiness. What sets PMDD apart is its severity. Women with PMDD find that it has a very disruptive effect on their lives. Please read on to get more information about PMDD -- what it is, how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.

PMDD is premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It's a very excruciating, debilitating condition. Some people say that it's just "bad PMS". It's not just that, trust me. I have it.

I have severe PMDD, stemming from a very severe case of PPD (postpartum depression). I was on many meds (antidepressants, antipsychotics, and antianxiety meds) during the PPD, but once my PMDD hit, none of them helped even remotely.

I was suicidal every month, it was a horrible nightmare for me. I was hospitalized twice... once with the PPD, once with the PMDD.

I now take Yaz for the PMDD, and it has definitely alleviated my symptoms.
