Should I panic!!??!

Question: I've actually been on my menstruation for about 3 weeks now... Im quite sure it has somethin to do with my birth control...but im not sure if I should panic or not. I recently got my first depo shot and the nurse literally told me...if i choose to get the shot ...there is no turning back what ever side effects i get im goin to have to ride it out for the next 3 months because there is no way i can get it out of my system...thats my main reason for not panicking but this is really starting to worry me. My menstruation is totally different.. My cramps arent the last for 2 day normal cramps...Now its like a quick sharp pain in my stomach or pelvic area..then the blood is like extra extra dark...nearly brown...and now it has a odor...It doesnt smell awful but it has an odor that wasn't there b4. Should I go to the doctors...i mean she did tell me that there was nothin they could do but this is really starting to freak me out!

I did the depo also. I bled the whole 3 months. I hated it. When that three months was up, I did ntot get other shot. Some women are lucky to not get one at all. Wait it out and tell them you need something different next time.

The nurse was right on. I had my period for a long time, my friend had hers the whole time she was on the shot. You shouldn't worry, but if I were you I'd think about another form of birth control. Maybe the odor is because of how long. I'd call your doc's office and explain, maybe they can tell you something over the phone. Or look it up online.

You are best finding out what is causing this instead of worrying unnecessarily. It might even be an infection, go to your G.P. (Dr). I recommend you keep a diary of your menstruation including all the worrying symptoms in case there are still problems after your visit. A good G.P. will listen sensitively to you.
