Best way to get pumped up to exercise?!

Question: I've always been a little laid-back when it comes to exercising. I'm not overweight by any means [5'8" 145lbs. eek, can't believe I admitted that...] but I'm beginning to come off anti-depressants/anxiety medication and I'm fully aware exercise releases endorphins. Anyway, I suppose my question is, how do I get off my butt after school all day, then work, manage to get all school work done [last semester of college!], and still get to the gym or use the treadmill at my house. Thanks!

Treadmills are boring! Go to the gym classes. I was NEVER able to consistently work out until I discovered all the aerobics/total body conditioning classes that they offered at my gym. I think the whole "group" or "social" atmosphere in gym classes makes you work a little bit harder than you would if you were to work out yourself. It's been 3.5 years since I started and I still go 3-4 days/week. If I stop working out for a week due to illness or work, my body tells me that I HAVE to work out...I start to feel "gross". I was never overweight but I wanted to be healthy and lean. I am 30 now and I have never looked and felt better in my whole entire life.

Best wishes.

I am the exact same way, to be honest music I find that very up beat music (mostly like 80's music, YA that just proved how old I am) gets me motivated. Try it, see what happens.

I find the best way to do this is not stop!!!1 if you get home and rest before trying to work out you wot be able to get p again!
Put on music you like, loudly, eat some energy food (granola bar, for example) and get going!!!!

Try music. It's the only thing that keeps me going on the treadmill at the gym or running outdoors. I make playlists of really pumped music.... things that would make me want to dance!

If you dread going to the gym.... start off by walking/jogging on your treadmill at home. If that starts to get old hit the gym to mix things up a little.

Once you get started and start feeling good from the exercise, you'll want to do it!

I have a crazy schedule too. Sometimes I get up a little earlier in the morning to go to the gym.... ot I'll go during my lunch break.

Something else that might keep you motivated is to have a little competition with a friend (one who has a treadmill or a gym membership). See who can walk or jog the most mile sin a week (by keeping a log),.. and whoever has the most at the end of the week wins.... so the loser has to buy the winner lunch or some other reward! My best friend and I did this last winner... and it was addicting. I lost 7 lbs... and now I run in 5k races whenever I can find them. And I have never been a runner before!!!!

Good luck!

MUSIC!!

hi, I think you should indulge in physical activity that you enjoy donig like bike riding, jogging or most girls are now into pilates or kick boxing. Bottom line is that you need to stick with a group who have simialr interests in the physical activity. yuo can be ther for each other and motivate each other and maintain the lveel of interest in the activity.

Exercise does'nt have to be routine. It should be fun and something you look forward to doing. If you do this with friends, then you get to hangout and enjoy yoyurself and improve oyur level of fitness at the same time. If not then you'll dread doing exercises becuase of the routine and you wont last long at it. Take it from me....I'm still figthing fit at 47 because I still jog at my age. I've always liked running since I was young so sometimes I meet up with friends and we jog together or goo to different places to experince jogging on the different terrains and at the same time enjoy the scenery and the surriondings.
Music and company helps. They also shorten the distance especially when you run long distances and give you the energy and motivation to continue. I normally listen to Iron Maiden or some other rock group when i run. Hope ths piece of adivce helps.
