not enough of the "good" bacteria present in the vagina to create a natural healthy pH balance. it doesn't necessariy result from being sexually active . sometimes it can be caused by wearing underwear that is not cotton or "breatheable" and therefore too much moisture is trapped in that area. also, using harsh chemicals in scented soaps can cause it as well as douching

A yeast infection is the result of your vagina's natural balance being off, allowing yeast to grow. It can be caused by staying in a wet bathing suit for too long, taking antibiotics, wearing too tight clothing, and a whole host of other things. It's very common, and is often not related to sexual activity.

heyy.
it's usually because when you have your period, you don't clean down there properly. if she doesn't shower everyday w/ her period, and doesn't change her pads often, she might get a yeast infection. it doesn't relate to being sexually active.

Yeast infections are not always triggered by having sex. you can get a yeast infection when u are a virgin. after puberty. Yeast infections can accur from a lot of things like.... wearing nylon underwear all the time, tight pants, bubble baths using powder or perfumes down there. And even antibiotics can bring one on. Cotton underwear should be worn, cotton can breath thru where nylon doesnt, keeping in moisture w/ no air and to warm same w/ wearing tight jeans.Yes, u can also get a yeast infection from sex be cause if the guy had sex w/ a different girl who had it then she passed it on to him. Thats the only way guys can have a yeast infection and some kind of yeast infections can be really bad, discolored dicscharge, bad odor (fishy smell) Also, multiple sex partners will cause this.
