Serious question about breast implants?!

Question: I have been contimplating getting breast implants, and really the only thing holding me back is that I have heard that after about 10 years breast implants need to be replaced. If that is true I will not even consider getting them, and only because I do not know where I will be financially in 10 years, does anyone know if that is true? do you really have to replace them every 10 years? thank you :o)

Everyone is different and when it comes to implants the lifespan can and DOES vary significantly - Many factors will effective the longevity of implants - the technique that the surgeon used for insertion, the placement either sub-pectoral or subglanular, the women's activity level - physical activity/weight training in which the chest muscles will contract and put more pressure on the implant, capsular contraction, implant fill or over-fill of cc's, blunt force i.e. car accident & impact of air bag ... The fact is at some future point they will leak or rupture. However, depending on the brand of implant that you select (Inamed & Mentor are the top two) you can pay as little as $100 for an extended 10yr warranty should they leak or rupture for any reason then a significant portion of the expenses to replace them will be covered.

Here's a link for more info on the warranty :)

yeah you really do. my sister got them for her graduation present and she asked the doctor the exact same question. and yes you do! so if you do get them. start a savings account just for that and by 10 years you should have enough :)

My sisters had breast implants more than 12 years ago. One had to have her breast implants removed because was leaking.

Yea you have to get them replaced after so many years.

Yeah you do need to maintain them.
