ok, if you've gotten it- youd know!

it doesnt hurt exactly... the cramps hurt. take some midol and you'll be good.

i suggest starting off with pads, then using tampons after you've had your period for a while. pads are just so much easier to deal with.

when you get it, you bleed from down there (duh). its your uterus losing its lining. this means that you can now get pregnant, so be careful.

if youre 10+ you could get it. warning signs are discharge, swollen boobs, cramps, and moodiness.

tampons don't hurt at all if you insert them right. even if you insert them wrong, it doesnt actually hurt, it just feels uncomfortable.

It's not horrible. It can be an annoyance, though. You will probably have stomach pains (cramps) a few days before getting it. You probably won't even know, you'll just see blood on your panties.

I think I'm about to start mine and I'm scared too! I'm 12.

No. You don't have a choice anyway.

I know when I'm going to get my period because I get a lot of gas. Sounds silly, but when I start farting like crazy, I know that I'll get it in a day or two. My husband is beside himself with laughter.

You should feel some stomach cramps, too.

No big deal.

you know youre gonna get it when you start b!tchin like crazy then you start to bleed

i get cramps and very impatient the cramps are horrible! but its a part of life tho im only 14 so i got a ways to go until i get to menopause and wat u do wat happens wen it happens? it just happens

it'll probaly happen at random. you'll probaly have a sore stomach befor (cramps) and pimples. when it happens you'll know !

its not horrible
its just irritating and sometimes uncomfortable

usually the first time you get it you wont really feel anything
except for maybe some cramps
depends on the person

anyways when you get it the first time it will usually be a light brown discharge but for the rest of the periods it should
typically be blood

just use a tampon or pad and you'll be fine

When it first happened I didn't even realise! The blood was dark and didn't look like blood - I didn't know what was going on until the next day!
It will probably be very light blood flow for a few months, you might know that it is going to start if you are slim as your tummy will probably swell a little and feel tender. If you are young and healthy period pains shouldn't be a problem. If they are I found sit ups every morning helped.
It doesn't really feel horrible, but it does get annoying when the novelty has worn off.

How I know I'm about to get is my boobs start hurting really bad, I start having cramps, and feel way more emotional than normal, but the period itself does not hurt, the only thing that hurts are the cramps.

When I first got my period, i could feel a liquid coming out of my you-know-what.... and it was a dark dark red... but it's not horrible at all... mine only lasts for three or four days... I ALWAYS cry the day before I start, it never fails ha ha! But I only use tampons when it's a fuller flow, otherwise it hurts.... but you get used to it, it's just a part of girl's life!! yay for us...

naw getting your period isnt bad it just sucks because it is an annoyance!! i know im gunna get my period cause my boobs really start to hurt and i get really emotional over stupid things...but yea its no big deal every girl gets their period

No its not bad. I had some cramps months before I got my period. Then the night before I got my period, I got some cramps so I knew I would be getting my period soon.
Anyways, barely anything comes out when you get your first period. Don't worry! I thought it would be awful, but its really not that bad!
