Birth control; Would you rather use ring or pill?!

Question: I mean the NuvaRing or birth control pill.
What do you use? What kind of problems have you had?

I used the Nuva Ring. I really liked it. I don't like the pills b/c its too hard for me to remember to take them. With the ring, you only have to take it out one a month, when you are about to start your period, then put it in the sunday after your period. I never had any problems with it either. Good luck!

I highly recommend the ring it works way better than the pill and it's comfortable. You have a better chance of not getting pregnant with it.

I've used both. Currently I use the Nuvaring. I don't have to worry every day about missing my dose. My only thing is actually remembering when my 3 weeks are up to stop the dosage. My periods are lighter though and I've not noticed any side effects. I like it.

pill

Abstinence.

Pill.

Well, I have now been on 4 different prescriptions for the pill and I am thinking that I am going to need a 5th. The NuvaRing isn't suggested for me because I already suffer from unbearable cramping and other issues possibly related to endometriosis.

Even with my problems with the pill, I still highly suggest it (I've been told my cases are pretty rare - most people are able to find the right one for them within 1 or 2 tries).

The problems overall that I have had while on the pill:

Alesse - headaches GALORE, chornic fatigueness, mood swings, anger/depression issues (when you get angry and throw a pen across the room and then cry because it doesn't work, I think there is a problem - along with just general sad thoughts and always being sad!), spotting for the entire month that I was on the pill....but, it solved my problem with cramps (haha obviously not worth it!)

Diane-35 - it began near the end of my first week when my calf muscles started constantly being cramped up. I would then start to feel a needle-like jabbing pain in my calf muscles. It then began to feel like someone was trying to rip out my right arm muscle and was constantly in pain. Then, I began feeling a pin-like feeling in the tips of my toes and into my feet. If that wasn't enough, I all of a sudden at one point became incredibly lightheaded, weak, and dizzy (within 3 hrs of eating food...I ate more food, felt better, but by the afternoon was starting to feel that way again). I immediately made a doctor's appt to get checked out for blood clots, but couldn't really find much, however was taken off the medication seeing how these were all symptoms of one beginning. It didn't even help with cramping. But, on the bright side, it made my skin sssoooo soft.

Ortho 0.5/35 - worked well for the first 2 and a half months although each month my cramps came back worse and worse. By the third month, I got my period (fully-blown with cramps and all) about a week and a half before I was actually supposed to...then spotted the rest of the time. Didn't really do what it was supposed to do since I'm on it to control cramps...however it did clear up my face very nicely (not all the way because it was only 3 months that I was on it but still a significant amount) and made my skin reasonably soft (nothing like the diane-35 though).

Yasmin - thus far, not doing well with it. It's been almost a week and I've felt nauseas A LOT (the other night I had a migraine and felt like I was gonna throw up...then last night within an hr and a half of taking the pill, I felt incredibly sick to my stomach), had a migraine (and I've never in my life had a migraine), and seem to be quite tired...but not yet as tired as I was on the Alesse (notice the word 'yet'). The other day I ended up crying all afternoon over nothing and have a random anger outburst too. I am thinking this might not be the pill for me either :(

Everyone had different experiences you have to remember. Just keep your head up high and see which one is right for you :)

I must also add, on the Yasmin, I have absolutely NO appetite...yesterday I had a bagel for breakfast, then a sandwhich at about 3:00...made dinner so that I could eat before I went horseback riding, but didn't eat it. I came home from riding and usually I am hungry, but I wasn't and didn't eat anything for the rest of the night (the nausea might have had something to do with it also). I also feel dizzy. Probably not the best thing in the world (but the dizziness MIGHT be because I don't feel like eating at all).

I have tried both and stopped both for different reasons. But if I had to choose a lesser od the two evils, I'd say the pill was better. The ring didn't have as many side effects but it was always slipping and it cause me to get a UTI. The pill just gave me the usual symptoms of nausea.
