I am 29 yrs old and I have always been irregular. My first couple yrs of having my cycle I would bleed real heavy and it would last for 12 days!!! Now I bleed for about 7 days but instead of getting my cycle every 28 to 30 days I get it like every 45 to 50 days. Every now and then I will get it in 30 days but for the most part it is 45. I have had 3 kids and I am still irregular and I believe I always will be at least until menopause. Doc says it's normal.

Stress will make you skip a period. Some women will always be irregular. If you are worried about it you should talk to your doc about going on birth control. That's what I had to do to get a normal schedule.

There a lot woman who have irregular periods, and if your mom has always been irregular, then you more than likely following into that category of the "irregular menstrual cycle" . Depending on your age and your parents, taking birth control can help keep your menstrual cycle regular, best thing to do is to talk to your mom about it and maybe get seen by a gyn doctor. Also some woman have irregular periods or not periods at all if they dont eat right, meaning woman who are bolimic or anerix will stop having their period or be really irregular. So, yes eating is part of that.

Sometimes an out of whack thyroid will affect it, along with stress and diet. I didn't really start eating healthy until my first pregnancy, because I knew what ever I got she got. Then I found I felt much better eating well, so the good habits have stuck. If you have access to healthcare, get checked. I've found a female gynecologist more understanding than male...best of luck.

Go on birth control. Works wonders for irregularity. I control the date I want to have my period on. I love it.

I'm 16 too and I was told that you will nor regulate completely until about like age 20 or something like that. If you are still worried though, go to the doctor.
