Can gynecologists treat...?!

Question: yeast infections or is it better to just do it yourself at home? I think I have a yeast infection, and if I do - it would be my first one. I have an appointment to the gynecologist on Tuesday for my yearly checkup, but I'm thinking about getting this checked out also. It's been going on for a few days or so and it's getting aggrivating.

If you can fix it at home, what are some things I should do? Are there any medications I can take? Thanks in advance.

well its much better to get ur gynaecologist to look at it simply because may be what ur having isnot a yeast and its bacteria, a better thing that ur doctor can do is to take a swab of ur vagina and send it to the lab to decide which drug can really treat u

the gynecologist will and can determine your condition and help you get rid of it!

When your gyno examines you he/she will probably notice the symptoms of a yeast infection, when you have it the first time and aint sure if this is it you need to seek a doctors diagnosis just in case it isnt what you think it is. Canesten is really good for treating yeast infection.

Best to let the expert do his job, having it treated by him is probably quicker than doing it at home! Good Luck.

Dear anxious lady, i do hope it's not something more 'sinister' that's causing it......i'd hate to think it's a STD....or something similar bud!....

Since it's your first one, you should have it diagnosed by your gyno. That way you can be sure that's what it is. She will have you treat it at home with gynelotrimin (monistat). After you know for sure that's what it is, you can recognize the signs and symptoms on your own, then it's ok to self-treat.
