Ibuprofen results?!

Question: Ok, well I've recently gone through a lot of drama in my life and it's not slowing down.. Last night, and a few nights over the past few months it's been too much for me to handle. I took some Ibuprofen to try to calm my nerves the first time, then after that I've continued too, but I've been overdosing on it.. Last night I took 16 I think.. And I think I knocked myself out, I got to my bed and before my head hit the pillow I was asleep.. Do you think I passed out, or was just too tired? I wasn't tired before I took the pills.. I know I have a problem and I'm working on fixing it, I'm getting therapy soon to try to help myself. I'm just wondering how much damage I could have done, is Ibuprofen strong enough to do something really bad?
Serious answers only please, and thanks in advance.

ok well firstly it depends on the strengh of the medication, yes you did over do it as you knew the answer, but ibuprofen can cause ulcers, and also damage the liver.i am glad you are getting help but these do not calm you down they are an anti-inflamatory tablet, the strenghs are 200mg or 400 mg.the max dose on a 400 mg is 1 four times daily.have you tried calms, these are herbal and are very good, also valerina you can get day and night ones in these if you are having trouble sleeping.im sure you just passed out .if this is the only time you have taken this amount then i doubt you have caused long term damage, but if you are having alot of drama going on go and speak to your doctor, and please tell them about the ibuprofen.there is nothing to feel ashamed about.may be they will try you on some other form of medication.
i hope this helps
good luck x

You probally passed out stop takeing the pills

You're supposed to take one every four hours, and no more than three every day. Maybe take less every day until you don't need them as much, then you can keep cutting back until you no longer need them. It's not healthy.

Yes it can cause serious internal bleeding and cause your kidneys to fail... It can kill you, but believe me either way it is pretty horrible, miserable, painful... Ibuprofen will not calm your nerves BTW any NSAID taken in large amounts or frequently can cause heart damage and/or a heart attack...

EDIT If you mean "nerves" as in anxiety then NO ibuprofen will not calm your "nerves" If you believe that an NSAID pain reliever is for that or has that effect you are woefully misinformed. It can you make you sleepy at high doses but that does nothing for anxiety level and it is unsafe in those doses.

it can potentially harm you... 16 tablets is not good..
im in no position to give you a doctor level answer, but i am in giving you good, or relatively good advice; you should probably ask for help, eventually, taking too much ibuprofen will harm you. good luck with eveything; get well soon.

It's hard on your liver. But you're young so it won't kill you. Don't take 16 pills of anything ever again, you are tempting Fate. One can only make so many "suicidal gestures" (crying wolf) before you get your wish. Be careful what you ask for.

Ibu also gives you headaches if you take too much.

Watch out girl, you're close to the edge. don't fall over.
