The birth control pill Yazz?!
Question: My doctor is suggesting that I try out the birth control pill Yazz because I get acne (due to hormones), bad cramps, and a heavy period. What are your experiences with this pill and any bad side effects short and long term? Thanks!

If you are younger & pre child-bearing, you may be able to tolerate it ok. I am almost menopausal, had two kids & tubal ligation, and could never tolerate any BCP's after that. My doctor recommended Yaz for pelvic pain and other hormonal symptoms, but I just couldn't take it. It made me nauseous.
If you plan to take it long term, it may make it a bit harder to conceive once you get off it, but unless you are smoking or have other risk factors for breast cancer, I wouldn't worry too much about taking it.
From what I have heard people love this pill. The major long term side effect with most birth control pills is blood clots...usually seen in older smokers. I would not worry about it. Your doctor should be telling you the side effects of this pill....if he/she doesn't..ask them.
