Vitamin C does not increase calcium absorption.

It does increase iron absorption though.

For calcium, magnesium and Vitaman D enhance absorption.

So, you may want to find a calcium supplement that contains both vitamin D and magnesium. But, if you are taking a multivitamin, you may want to find a calcium supplement that does not have a high dose of vitamin D and magnesium.

Try to find one that has a lower mg of both vitamin D and magnesum.

Calcum citrate tends to have a higher absorption rate than carbonate, but there are so many different calcium supplements on the market now, you'd really need to examine them to find one that is right for you.

There's a number of calcium supplements that are in "candy" form. They are chewable nougats that come in different flavors such as chocolate or caramel.

Any chewable calcium supplement will have a higher absorption rate than a tablet. Though, both are excellent ways to get extra calcium in your diet.

Regarding vitamin C, it's a water soluable vitamin which means any excess is excreted through your urine.

Vitamin D, on the other hand, is fat soluable, which means excess is stored in your body, so you want to make sure you don't get excessive amounts of vitamin D.

Its true that you need the C for absorption. Ide say get away from the one a days... and go to GNC and get the MEGA Man Vitamins... probably the best thing ever, seriously... there like 20 bucks for a 2 month count. And the have way more of EVERY THING so if your lacking it will have it.

And dont really worry about getting too much of any thing... your body will just pee out what you dont use... and as a bonus it makes your pee a really cool yellow...

It's actually Vitamin D that helps your body absorb calcium better. Check with your doctor before taking an extra calcium supplement. Excess calcium can cause certain health problems if it builds up in your body. You can get extra calcium from foods, which makes it easier for your body to absorb. Have you tried Lactaid milk? It tastes just like regular milk, only with enzymes that help you digest dairy.

Edit: Here's a link that goes over some of the possible health problems that could result from excess calcium intake:

Vitamin C has nothing to do with the metabolism of calcium. Vitamin D and magnesium are most associated with this and are usually sufficiently obtained through diet (a multi vitamin will work as well). However it wouldn't hurt to take in additional vitamin C as any additional to what your body can process will just be excreted through your urine.
