Ummm, girl problem :(?!

Question: I'm 15, and for the past few months I've been having excessive watery, really embarrassingly pungent fishy discharge. The area isn't sore or itchy, but the odor is really getting me down. People have been noticing and commenting. D:

I can't tell my mother, it's really awkward confiding in her about things like this - we don't really have that sort of relationship. So going to the doctors about it isn't an option is it?

I'm just wondering what is wrong with me, and how I can stop it =/

Thank you :)

your body is changing and your hormones will be all over the place so its common but theres also a chance it could be an infection like thrush so i think you should make an appointment with your dr about this, they can give you cream/pessarys for it. and its confidential so dont worry they cant tell your parents or anyone else. dont leave it as it could get worse if it is an infection as i had the same thing at your age and it turned into pelvic inflammatory disease in the end.

go to gp u mite av a infection!

at that age your body goes through many changes and those are usually nothing to worry about. Just tell your mum you are having som personal problems and get her to take you to the doctor. She will understand, she was your age once, and whatever problems you have she will still love you. I had problems when I was 15, and I thought it would be awful telling my mum, but I plucked up the courage and it was not as bad as I feared. Good luck

these sound like the symptoms you described.

if you dont want to tell your mum you could go to the docs by yourself. either way, you must go because you probably have an infection and you need it sorting out before it spreads and makes you really poorly.

You can go to the doctors alone if you want some reassurance. It does sound like more discharge than usual and your doc may have some suggestions.

You dont have to tell your mum although you could tell her afterwards if you feel comfortable so she knows what is going on with you.

you need to see a doctor. you probably have some type of infection. it is not uncommon for women/girls to get bacteria or yeast infection. But, if you are sexually active, you could have an STD which is more serious.

there are clinics out there that you can go to w/out parental permission such as Planned Parenthood. They will be confidential too. They used to even use a fake name when calling the house (not sure if they still do).

but you should talk to your mom. she has probably experienced a bacteria or yeast infection in her life & will be understanding

atleast seek help. any infection left untreated could have bad lasting effects.

good luck

This website might help. I think a visit to the Dr is the way to go and I dont believe at 15 you need your mother to attend that appointment with you.

Uh, yeah, that's not normal. Normal discharge shouldn't be "fishy". If you don't feel comfortable talking to your mother...then maybe you can see your school nurse. Or, do you have any close friends whose mother may be able to help?

have you got an older sister, an aunt, or an older cousin who you can talk to about things like this? if you have, what about asking them to go to the doctors with you. i think it would be best that you go to the doctors. they should be able to help you, and the person you go with, might be able to tell your mum for you if you want them too, as it may be easier to talk to her, once she already knows the problem. please don't take this the rong way, but until then, wash yourself there as often as you can, and keep a little bodyspray or something similar with you, that you can spray in that area to help cover the smell.
i hope this has helped.
good luck.
