How many women???!

Question: I was wondering how many of you ladys that have taken the depo shot have been depressed after taking it. I have been on it for about two weeks now and I feel really depressed. Like I mean just out of this world depressed. I have been telling my husband that I want a divorce because I don't feel pretty. I don't know if this is just me or do more women out there feel this way. I just had a baby two months ago and I did suffer some post pardum depression. But, nothing like this. I dono't want to divorce my husband I love him to death, but I have never felt this way and was wondering if it might be the shot? Please help I don't know what's wrong with me.

I was on the shot for 4 years and never had any side effects however I went off the shot for a year to give my body a break and went on an oral contraceptive which made me EXTREMELY angry and very easily irritated. I would scream at my then 6 year old daughter for no reason at all. It took me a week to realize that the way I was acting wasn't normal so and the only thing that was different was the pill I was on so I took myself off it. Right away I was back to normal. I changed to orthotricyclin lo and have not had any strange side affects. The shot may very well be the reason you feel so depressed. You should call your doctor to see what you can do about it because it's going to be in your system for three months.

Yes, that is a side effect of Depo. Just stop taking it and get on something else. You might also try antidepressants just to get you out of the slump. Depression can make you feel really bad, but its no reason to get a divorce. Especially the reason you are giving him. it sounds like it is time to get some help.

Yes it could be the shot. I didn't have the shot, but when i was on birth control pills I noticed the same thing. I suffer from depression already as it is, but the pills just made it SOO much worse i couldn't handle it , so I had to discontinue using birth control pills . it could be that the depo shot is doing the same thing because all birth control pills/ shots contain certain hormones that may contribute to the depression (not sure what they are specificially)

yeah i have and a friend of mine said it had the same kinda affect on her so she stopped using it i had very crazy mood swings when you go for your next shot i recommend not getting it again and try talking to someone about the way your feeling it helps when you get it out trust me good luck!
