It shouldn't hurt if you're using the right size. Being a virgin doesn't really have anything to do with it. I'm not a virgin and big sizes or putting it in wrong can still hurt me.

Almost every drugstore brand (Playtex, O.B., Tampax) will have super small sizes available. For your first time, I would suggest finding the smallest size with an applicator. There are instructions in the box with drawings to help you see exactly what to do.

If you're still nervous, talk to your mom, grandma, teacher, sister - every female knows what you're going through!!

Take care & good luck!!

If you want to try you must use a lot of lubrication such as KY Jelly, and insert it very gently. Buy the smallest/skinniest sized tampon you can find. If you aren't gentle it could hurt.

No it doesn't hurt, usually the box will have directions on how to insert it. You just have to remember to change it every few hours or you run the risk of getting TSS.

It doesn't hurt at all.

I personally like them way better than pads.

You should try them....they are also way more comfortable.

They didnt hurt me when I started to use them ( I was a virgin at the time) I didnt even feel it. After I started to use them I hated pads.....still do. Just get one and try and you'll know right away if you will be able to deal with it..

Nope! Doesn't hurt at all.

And it doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not.

The box will come with instructions, and it really is a breeze! It just takes practice!

=)

Don't worry, I use tampons too and it feels much more natural and comfortable than pads. It doesn't really hurt although there is a slight bit of discomfort putting it in and taking it out but nothing significant. I would practice a few times before taking them out w/ you and putting them in in a public restroom because it can be a bit tricky at first. Good luck and I strongly recommend them! =)

you wont know if it hurts unless you try it. Everyone is different. I put one leg up on the tub and bend my knees to get my legs wide open and then slowly insert it at an angle.....don't force it! It should glide right in. I don't know if it's just in my head or real but I think my cramps are worse if I use a tampon so I don't very often. You just made me want to ask a question. thanks.

It's always uncomfortable the first time you try using a tampon. Try to use tampax pearl (they go in so much easier and stay away from cardboard!) and inside it has instructions that should help you. It's going to be tough and uncomfortable but it isn't going to hurt, after you get it in the first time it's simple after that. Make sure you don't keep tampons in for longer than 6-8 hours and that you sleep in pads (it's good to alternate) I love tampons because I have less accidents so I just recommend you try and decide what you feel comfortable with :)

i used them when i was still a virgin and they never hurt they take some getting used to because they are kind of unconfortale at first but there is no pain.

i love tampons, lol. they are not bad at all and the dont hurt or are uncomfy if u put them in right. u cant even feel them! also they are sooo much more neater and discreet then pads. i use Tampax cardboard because every thing is BIO DEGRADABLE!! so i can flush every thing down the toilet, and they're friendly for me and the earth =] my most favotie thing about this brand is they they have this BIG box (40 total) of tampons that has an assortment of tampons from super to lite and its only 5 bucks!

oh yea the most important thing is... RELAX!!!

I've been using them for years but the hard part is learning to insert them at the correct angle. If you get it wrong, insertion is painful and you can't get the tampon in very far. Personally, I prefer using shorter and wider tampons. That's because the longer and thinner varieties tend to slide back out. I have had two children so it's probably because of that.
