What tells you you're going to get your period for the first time?!

Question: Often times, severe cramping, slight nausea, moodiness, bouts of crying, and some food cravings. If you crave salty food, drink more water. If you crave milk, or chocolate, eat foods rich in calcium. Once you get it, eat foods rich in iron as menstruating can make you slightly anemic.

Otherwise, there is no sure fire way to find out. You can ask your mom and her sisters when they first menstruated, as well as your fathers sisters, if you are comfortable. Sometimes your mother can tell you these things. These things are often genetic. My mother first menstruated three months after her 11th birthday. I also first menstruated three months almost to the day, after mine.

Good luck, and happy cramping!

u feel very moody, and u have cramps. I realized that i was like sooo upset like 2 weeks b4 i got my period, and there was like no reason to be upset. I also had lots of cramps, and they were sooo bad that it felt like my stomach was eating me up!!! it was awful. Then to my suprise, about 2 weeks later, i pulled down my undies and there was a little blob of blood :)

you might feel more grouchy or emotional than usual in the days leading up to it, you might get cramps or headaches, and of course there will be blood in your panties.

Cramps, mood swings, aching thighs, pubic and underarm hair, and discharge are some of the signs to look for. If the discharge is whitish-clear, you'll probably have your period in a year at the latest, but it will probably be sooner. If the discharge is brownish-red, you're starting your period. Also really bad headaches, especially if you don't usually get them, are a sign.
