MIRENA (IUD) anybody out there have this or previously had it?!

Question: just wanting to know other peoples experience with the mirena birth control....
i have had mine in for nearly a year now, when it was first put in the doctor said it was normal to have erratic bleeding but should be cleared up and praticaly non existant after 3 months, nearly a year on i am still getting my period for 3 weeks each month and is quite heavy the first 5days, because of this im considering having it removed. has anybody else experienced this side effect from mirena?

Hi :) I've had a great experience with my Mirena, I have no periods now after about 3 months of erratic bleeding and cramping. It's fantastic! Sounds like the mirena doesn't agree with your body and I'd definitely talk to your doctor about the symptoms you are having and look at having it removed. Generally you shouldn't be having negative side effects after 3-6 months. 12 months is too long to put up with what you're going through.
