Jess,
Every woman is different. Lots of women get period cramps just before there period - this is called PMT, or PMS. Read this for more information > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premenstrua...

Some women are lucky and don't recieve cramps at all.

I hope this answer helps you.

It really just depends on who you are:
I usually get them the first day of my period, then they subside,
but my friend told me she gets them everyday of her period.
hope this helps!

I usually start with cramps my first day of my period, really bad cramps day 2, milder day 3, and then gone. Everyone is different, so some start before their period, some later.

I used to always cramp on the first day. If I was constipated, I would cramp on other days, too, so I always made sure I ate enough fiber (15 grams a day from fruits and veggies) to keep everything regular. If your colon is full, it puts pressure on the back of your uterus. Then when your uterus squeezes, you get cramps. If your colon is empty, no cramps.

cramps start before the period, and during the period. thats when it hurts the most.

i usally get cramps like the day before i start and the first day or two of my pierod.
